It's not until you first examine a
piece of jewellery made by John Watling that you realize why he has become such
a highly regarded craftsman. John's work is beautifully made with extreme
attention to fine details and proportion.
It is a misconception to think that given a good quality stone and a
classical design you can't go wrong. If however you were to compare John's work
with that from mass market jewellers, you would soon see the advantage of having
hand-crafted
a piece around the stone rather than a stone being placed in a predominantly
pre-cast setting.
John is a classically trained
goldsmith and diamond mounter and as a result much of his work is very unusual pushing the boundaries of his
skills to produce distinctive and stylish jewellery.
"My jewellery is very different from that normally available in the high
street. Every piece is hand worked and of the highest quality.
It is not only beautifully made and hand finished, but no two pieces are
ever exactly alike."
John likes to work with various precious stones and metals, and was even asked to mount a
piece of rock from the moon for an Astronaut who had brought it back to Earth.
