Training
''For me there was never a question about my future career. My father introduced me to his skills when I was very young, and I was immediately engaged. At nine years old, I wrote: "Jane Watling, Jeweller" in one of my father's visitors’ books in the shop!

I used to sell my early jewellery in the school playground and later in the college canteen!''

Later on Jane was led to the alter for her own marriage behind the same Processional Cross that she had made with her father.

Jane followed a very 'hands on' apprenticeship. The majority of her six years of training was under her fathers influence, though also receiving additional training at several other jewellery workshops and specialist Art College Courses to attain a wider spectrum of skills.

Jane specialized in contemporary jewellery, forging, traditional silversmithing, all precious metal and stones, jewellery design and art history.

As Jane developed her skills she began to specialize in the design and movement of the gold and silver, 'letting the metal work naturally for me'.

Jane has produced quite outrageous, large and almost sculptural pieces for exhibitions or shows that have then been 'toned down' and may be the themes for which a new range is created.
